Building Strong Marriages (BSM) curriculum is derived from the principles of three well known psychologists; specialists in marriages and family, Dr. David H. Olson, Ph.D., Dr Huang Wei-Jen and Dr. Willard F. Harley. Together with other personality assessment tool, BSM provides couples with a realistic platform to assess, learn, and embrace practical principles and skills that will enhance & strengthen couple relationship.

  • Dr. David H. Olson, Ph.D. creator of “Prepare-Enrich” Inventory, a powerful marital assessment tool.  Dr. Olson is Professor Emeritus, Family Social Science, University of Minnesota, St. Paul, MN and President of Life Innovations.
  • Dr Huang Wei-Jen, Ph.D., Clinical Psychologist, Purdue University & Medical School Faculty. Known to focus on three important pillars of lasting and fulfilling marriage:
    • Managing Differences and Conflict.
    • Intentionally Strengthening Friendship
    • Nurturing a healthy true self
  • Dr. Willard F. Harley - famous book “His Needs Her Needs”
    In his book, marital conflict arises because:
    • Couples fail to make each other happy or
    • Couples make each other unhappy

BSM program is designed to impart principles, practical knowledge and relationship skills that will help couple to communicate intimately and resolve issues fairly. Couples will also learn about family of origin, roles and needs. The aims are to help couples understand each other, clarify expectation, deepen trust and build strong bond and feeling of love. The program purposes to prepare and enrich couples for a strong life-long fulfilling marriage. The course comprises of the following:

  • 8 sessions of interactive learning
  • 1 session of one-on-one with individual couple
Note:
Couple Discussion: In each session, at least 30-45 minutes of private time for each individual couple to dialogue, process, and understand issues with the help of facilitators.
